Education and Outreach

Picture
Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge (RWR) personnel contribute greatly to the community through education and outreach programs.  Education programs focus on wildlife management, marsh ecology, history/purpose of RWR, and coastal erosion.  These programs are taught to various age groups including elementary, high school, and college-level students.

One of the largest groups the refuge annually hosts is the LSU 4-H Marsh Maneuvers Camp (gallery below). Student attendees enjoy a week long stay at the refuge while learning about the importance of southwestern Louisiana marshes and its inhabitants.  The program lasts four weeks, with different regions of Louisiana represented during the different weeks.

If you are a teacher/professor and are interested in a taking field trip to RWR, please contact the refuge office for more information about staff availability.
